Complete discovery of Guadeloupe: 10-Day Itinerary from La Créole Beach Hotel & Spa

Guadeloupe is a dream destination with its incredible beaches, turquoise waters and breathtaking landscapes. If you plan to spend 10 days there, here are the various visits and activities that you can plan on site alone, with friends or family. The following recommendations will be very useful for exploring the archipelago and for discovering its most beautiful facets.

Day 1: Find accommodation in Gosier and discover the surroundings

Stay in Grande-Terre, in Gosier at La Créole Beach Hotel & Spa to stay in elegant and comfortable rooms. Our 5-star hotel, located not far from Guadeloupe international airport, offers high-end services in a beautiful environment. If you are not too tired from the trip, you can already start visiting Pointe-à-Pitre and Le Gosier, as well as its islet that can be reached by swimming. You can also go to the hotel's Zawag restaurant to enjoy local specialties while watching the sunset.

Day 2: Visit and stroll south of Grande-Terre

Head to Saint-François to discover the Pointe des Châteaux and admire the beauty of its rocky landscape. You don't need to be a seasoned athlete to climb this small summit, which takes 10 minutes. Once you reach the cross, you will be able to see an incredible panorama of the surroundings. It is recommended to go there very early in the morning so as not to miss the sunrise.

Pointe des Chateaux

Then stop at La Douche to watch the big waves crash against the rocks or to lounge at the small beach nearby. Also remember to go to Bois Jolan, one of the most beautiful beaches in the archipelago, with its palm trees and crystal clear waters. Visit Sainte-Anne for its spice market and craft market.

Day 3: Discover the northern part of Grande-Terre

To the north, you will see cliffs in Anse-Bertrand instead. This geographical area is ideal for hiking (about 8 km): you will pass to the Gates of Hell with a breathtaking view of the marine landscape, 50 meters above sea level. You will also make curious geological discoveries such as the Blower Hole and the Mam Coco Hole. Still near Anse-Bertrand, you can stroll to the tip of Grande Vigie, take a well-deserved break at Anse Laborde beach or at Souffleur beach in Port Louis to end the day with a magnificent sunset.

Day 4: Petite-Terre, ideal for an excursion, a trip to the sea and to the beach

Petite-Terre is one of the must-see sites during a stay in Guadeloupe. Plan an excursion to the nature reserve to discover the richness of marine fauna (sharks, rays, turtles, iguanas, etc.). You can go out to sea on a catamaran to see the beauty of the landscapes from the sea. You can end your day by sipping a refreshing drink at Datcha Beach and admiring the setting sun before dinner.

Day 5: La Soufrière in Saint-Claude and the hot baths of Bouillante

Climb to the top of the Soufrière volcano early in the morning so as not to collapse in the hot afternoon. This hike of about 2 hours will allow you to discover the area well. If the weather is nice, you can admire an incredible view of the entire archipelago.

Stop by the Bologna Distillery, in Saint-Claude, to learn a lot more about the processes for making artisanal rum, a real institution on site. You can also taste the production after a guided tour.

In Basse-Terre, you will find numerous geothermal springs and very pleasant hot water baths. Take the time to go to Bouillante to see the sulphuric source of this locality. Very hot water flows directly into the sea and makes swimming on site very pleasant.

Bain Chaud Bouillante

Day 6: Spend a day in Les Saintes

Many companies offer the crossing to Les Saintes. Once there, you can climb to the summit of Le Chameau, the highest point in this geographical area. After a 45-minute walk, your efforts will be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama of all the surroundings.

Go to Pain de Sucre Beach, Pompierre Beach and take a stroll through the city center. This geographical area is ideal for snorkeling in order to observe fish and corals in their natural environment.

Day 7: Head to Capesterre-Belle-Eau to see the Carbet Falls

Access fees (5.15 euros/adult) are required to see the Carbet Falls. The first 115-meter fall is a 1.5-hour walk with several climbs, but the beauty of this site is well worth the effort. Then, you have to walk 20 more minutes to see the second fall. Access is much easier thanks to the developed trails, but it is forbidden to go to the basin. You have to stay at the observation deck. Guadeloupe is home to numerous waterfalls that are worth a visit if you stay longer.

Chute du Carbet

Still in the same geographical area, stop by the Longueteau distillery to taste one of the best rums in Guadeloupe. Book a guided tour with explanations and a tasting. During a short stop at Allée Dumanor, a long road lined with coconut trees on both sides, take beautiful souvenir photos. Finally, stop at Malendure Beach to swim to the seagrass beds, to see turtles and to admire a wonderful sunset.

Day 8: Leave for Deshaies: waterfall, beaches and botanical garden

The Deshaies Botanical Garden is among the places to see for its tropical trees, plants and flowers. The visit is done in 2 hours. Then, move on to the Cascade de Bis in Sainte-Rose. This quiet location in the middle of a tropical forest is ideal for recharging your batteries. Afterwards, you can go to the Grande Plage de la Perle, then to the beach of Grande Anse to finish the day.

Day 9: Visit Grand Cul-de-Sac-Marin Bay

Located between Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre, this bay is delimited by a great coral reef that forms a lagoon with countless treasures. Plan a boat trip, bring food and drinks, or buy on site. During this excursion, you can visit Caret Island, snorkel to discover a beautiful ecosystem in the Great Barrier Reef. It is also possible to swim, kayak or paddle, or sunbathe on the boat.

Grand Cul-de-sac Marin

Day 10: Out to buy some souvenirs before leaving

If you still have time before your departure time, you can always go to the beach one last time. If not, go out to buy souvenir items for yourself, your loved ones, and friends.

The La Créole Beach Hotel & Spa team will be happy to inform you and guide you according to your preferences during your 10-day stay. Book a room as soon as possible to take advantage of the best rates at our establishment.
